Doctors recommend that Elizabeth 2nd take another two weeks of rest

by

The medical team of Queen Elizabeth 2ª, 95, advised this Friday (29) that the sovereign extend for two more weeks the period of forced rest due to health complications. Thus, the head of the British royal family will have to cancel other previously scheduled events.

On Tuesday (26), also due to medical advice, she had already announced that she would not go to COP26, the UN climate conference, which starts on Sunday in Glasgow, Scotland, and which will include the presence of several global leaders . According to Buckingham Palace, the recommendation is that the Queen avoid official visits and only carry out light tasks and in her office during the period.

The expectation, therefore, is that Elizabeth will not attend an annual festival that honors “those who have fought in wars, disasters and pandemics to protect the UK”. The event is scheduled for November 13th.

On the other hand, Buckingham Palace reported that the sovereign has “great intention” to attend an event in honor of military veterans, scheduled for the next 14th.

The queen’s health status has been highlighted in recent days, as she even spent a night in hospital on the 20th to perform “preliminary examinations”. As a result, the palace announced that she would have to cancel a trip to Northern Ireland, where she was scheduled to meet with the population.

Before admission, another fact that caught the attention was that the queen was seen using a cane for the first time without a specific medical reason, at a large public event — in 2003 and 2004, after an operation on her knee, she had already appeared with the item.

Despite the concerns, Elizabeth appeared animated in a video released by the palace on Thursday, when she participated in a ceremony to award medals to poets. Images of her accepting credentials from foreign ambassadors were also displayed.

Days earlier, the Queen was caught by microphones on a TV channel criticizing officials who she said “talk but don’t act,” referring to pledges by world leaders to increase focus on measures against global warming. At the same time, he said he was “following everything” about the COP.
