Italy: The positions of the far-right alliance on the EU, immigration, energy

The factions of the right and extreme right prevailed in Italy, with the post-fascist faction Adelphia of Italy Georgia Meloni, to emerge as the first party in the parliamentary elections.

“Italians have sent a clear message in favor of a right-wing government led by the Brothers of Italy,” Ms Meloni, now prime minister-elect, said during a brief statement to the press in Rome. “We will govern for all” Italians, she promised .

But what are the programmatic positions of the far-right alliance on issues such as the European Union, family policy and energy? It follows in rough lines the program of its alliance far right and of the right which prevailed in the early parliamentary elections in Italy.

This program was subscribed to by the two factions of the extreme right, the Brothers of Italy under Georgia Meloni and his League Matteo Salvinias well as his right wing Forza Italia Silvio Berlusconi.

Foreign Policy

Adherence to the commitments undertaken within the framework of NATO.

Support Ukraine which is facing military invasion by Russia and support any diplomatic efforts to find a solution to the conflict.

Commitment to the European integration process, with a perspective of a more political and less bureaucratic European Union.

Revision of the rules of the Stability Pact.

Defense and promotion of historical and cultural Judeo-Christian roots and identities in Europe.

Economy, society

Full use of the resources of the European recovery plan, overcoming the current delays in the implementation of the program.

Agreement with the European Commission, under European rules, to revise the recovery plan based on new conditions, needs and priorities.

Reducing the tax burden on families, businesses and the self-employed.

Abolish the minimum guaranteed income.

Adjustment of the minimum pension, social benefits and disability benefits.

Institutions

Direct election of the President of the Republic.

Continuation of the process for the recognition of the autonomy of the regions.

Family

Plan to support and increase birth rate with free nurseries, creation of nurseries in companies, libraries and playgrounds.

Reduction of VAT on products for babies and children.

Security, immigration

Fight against all forms of anti-Semitism and Islamic fundamentalism.

Fight against irregular immigration and management of flows of legal immigrants.

Promotion of social integration and integration into the labor market of legal immigrants.

Defense of national and European borders.

Debarment of vessels under agreement with the authorities of northern African countries to prevent human trafficking and the smuggling of irregular migrants.
