Many French gas stations have been facing problems in their refueling for days

The Belgian gas stations near the border with France are recording a 15-20% increase in demand in recent days due to strike action at French refineries and oil depots.

This situation does not cause concern in terms of its supply Belgium, Olivier Neyrink, the technical director of Brafco, the fuel traders’ federation, told the Belgian news agency Belga. “There are reserves. As long as the mobilization continues in France, we are ready,” he added.

Many French gas stations for days have been experiencing problems with their refueling due to the strike at the refineries and fuel depots of the TotalEnergies and Esso-ExxonMobil. The strikers are demanding wage increases, against the background of inflation and record profits of oil companies. The problem affects a little over 20% of gas stations but is more intense in the north of the country.

Neyrink assured that the symbolic blockade of two TotalEnergies facilities in Belgium this weekend did not cause supply problems. From Saturday morning until Sunday noon, hundreds of activists of the organization Code Rouge they blocked the facilities, in an act of “civil disobedience” aimed at demonstrating the responsibility of the fossil fuel industry in climate change and social crisis.
