The Ukrainian president Volodymyr Zelensky said today that he agreed with the German chancellor Olaf Solz on the need to convene an immediate meeting of the G7, after today’s Russian strikes against Ukraine.

“I have agreed with Chancellor Olaf Scholz of Germany, who holds the presidency of the G7, on an emergency meeting of the Group,” Zelensky said on Twitter.

“My speech is scheduled, in it I will talk about the terrorist attacks of the Russian Federation. We also discussed the issue of increasing pressure on the Russian Federation and providing assistance for the restoration of damaged (Ukrainian) infrastructure,” the Ukrainian president added.

At the same time, Zelensky had a telephone conversation with his French counterpart Emmanuel Macronwith which they referred to the need to strengthen the Ukrainian air defense and to have a tough response from Europe and the international community to the Russian bombings.
