The CEO of Tesla responded after a related question he received on twitter

In a tweet, Elon Musk denies that he spoke with Vladimir Putin before tweeting the “peace plan” to end the war in Ukraine.

The CEO of Tesla when asked if it is true that he had a conversation with Putin said: “No, it is not. I have only spoken to Putin once and that was about 18 months ago. The issue was space.”

It all started when in an email sent to Eurasia Group subscribers, Ian Bremer claimed that Musk told him that the Russian president was “ready to negotiate” if Crimea remained in Russian hands. The news was then picked up by Vice.

In fact, according to what Ian Bremer reported in it, based on what Musk said he was told, Putin also reportedly insisted to the Tesla CEO that Ukraine should accept permanent neutrality and to recognize the annexation of Luhansk, Donetsk, Kherson and Zaporizhia regions by Russia.
