by

Shortly after the incident, investigators identified Chandler Richardson, 19, and Kenmare Bryan, 18, as suspects in the murder.

The two young men accused of shooting and killing the student Elijah DeWitt – “star” of his high school’s rugby team in Georgia – appeared before American justice facing the charge of felony murder.

Elijah DeWitt was fatally shot by the two youths on his father’s birthday while he and a friend waited for his girlfriend to meet them 30 miles northeast of Atlanta.

Shortly after the incident, investigators identified Chandler Richardson, 19, and Kenmare Bryan, 18, as suspects in the murder.

They were arrested in South Carolina on gun possession charges Thursday.

Investigators believe Richardson and Bryan fought with DeWitt before shooting him.

No further arrests are expected to be made in the case.

The slain teenager’s 20-year-old girlfriend, Bailey Reidling, confirmed that DeWitt may have known the suspects after meeting them days earlier.

DeWitt had gone to a restaurant and was approached by Bryan and Richardson asking if he had hash, Reidling said, according to sources.

He said it’s unclear how the suspects knew DeWitt would be at the scene where he was killed on Oct. 5.
