War in Ukraine: Fire at fuel depot in Belgorod region

A fuel depot in Russia’s Belgorod region, which borders Ukraine, caught fire today after a bombardment, regional governor Vyacheslav Gladkov announced without specifying the source of the bombardment.

Russia’s border regions, including Belgorod, have accused Ukraine of attacking targets including fuel depots and the power grid since Moscow sent troops into Ukraine on February 24. There has been no comment from Kyiv yet.

The local emergency service said one of the 10 fuel tanks caught fire, TASS news agency reported, and the governor later said the fire had been put out.

On Thursday, Russian officials announced that Ukrainians bombed an ammunition depot, a school, a housing complex and an electrical substation in the Belgorod region.
