The Dagblade newspaper makes an inventory of the properties and reports that recently in Norway there are frequent arrests of Russian citizens using drones.
The Russian Orthodox Church in recent years has acquired some real estate in Norway a short distance from military bases, writes the Dagbladet newspaper.
According to land registry data, in 2017 the Russian Orthodox Church bought a building in the city Cered (Bergen municipality), which is located three kilometers from Haakonsvern which is the most important port and naval base.
Some properties the Russian Orthodox Church acquired in the period 2017-2021 in the seaside area Rougalan. For example in the city Stanwanger the former priest of the local community of the Russian Orthodox Church owns a property near the NATO Unified Center in Yotto, writes Dagbladet.
The property is located just one kilometer from an important military building, about a fifteen minute walk.
The Russian Orthodox Church also owns property in Kirkenes, on the border with Russia. Purchased in 2015.
Also since 1996 she owned a building in Oslo.
The priest Dmitry Ostanin who serves in a church in Sereid, answering a related question of the newspaper, stated that from his own church “there is no danger”.
“Primarily because I myself am Ukrainian. And I curse this war launched by Russia against my country. My father-in-law and mother-in-law are refugees here in Norway. My relatives and my wife’s relatives still live there during the war with the bombings,” said the priest clarifying that many believers visit other churches because of his anti-war stance.
Recently, in Norway, there have been frequent arrests of Russian citizens using small unmanned aircraft (drones).
Norwegian police today announced the arrest of another Russian, whom they accuse of sending a small unmanned aircraft (drone) to fly over Norwegian territory, this time over the strategically important Svalbard archipelago in the Arctic.
The arrest, which took place in Hammerfest in northern Norway, involves a 47-year-old man with dual Russian and British citizenship, Finnmark regional police said.
“The suspect admitted to sending a drone to Svalbard,” police official Anja Mikkelsen said. According to The Barents Observer website, he is the son of a “well-known Russian businessman” who is “closely connected to Vladimir Putin”.
