The schoolgirls refused to undergo a body search and hand over their mobile phones
Female high school students in Tehran who refused to submit to physical checks and hand over their mobile phones were beaten today by men of the Iranian security forces, Reuters reported, citing testimonies and videos from social media.
Reuters emphasizes that it cannot verify the authenticity of the videos, in which they are also distinguished police firing tear gas to push back parents who had surrounded the school.
Iran has been rocked for weeks by a wave of protests following the death of 22-year-old Mahsha Amini on September 16, three days after she was arrested by Tehran’s morality police for violating a strict dress code for women.
As it became known today from the Iranian authorities, at a cost about 300 people have been charged in connection with the episodic protests in Tehran. Some of the accused are even facing the death penalty.
