Italy: How citizens judge the new Meloni government – “The Draghi government was better”

As for the new Prime Minister Georgia Meloni and whether she will “act in the right or wrong way to solve key issues” only 39% have confidence that she will do the right thing.

A survey by the polling institute Ipsos, which was carried out for the private television channel La 7, presents the opinion of Italians regarding the newly formed government of Giorgia Meloni.

In more detail, when asked if this new government is better than the previous one of Mario Draghi, 45% answered “no”, 36% “yes” and the remaining 19% do not express an opinion.

More specifically, with regard to the eleven ministers (out of a total of twenty-four) who already participated in previous governments, with Silvio Berlusconi as prime minister, 56% of respondents consider it a “return of the old policy”, 32% consider them “experience and quality guarantee” and the rest do not take a clear position.

As for new Prime Minister Georgia Meloni and whether she “will act in the right or wrong way to solve key issues”, 41% said she will not rise to the occasion, 39% have confidence that she will do the right thing and 20% have not yet formed an opinion.

Finally, with reference to foreign policy and the high tones that, in the past, Meloni used, addressing France and Germany, 64% of the statistical sample of the Ipsos survey is of the opinion that “now the prime minister should tone down , with normal relations”, 23% consider that he will “continue to raise his voice with the European allies” and 13% are unable to answer.
