A cyber attack of unknown origin paralyzed the internal network of its parliament today Slovakiaas a result to adjourn the meeting which was in progress at the time.
A similar attack, but on a smaller scale, also disrupted its operations Upper House of Polish Parliament.
“The entire computer network of the parliament was paralyzed,” said the deputy speaker of the Slovak Parliament, Gabor Gredel. “Around 11 am, we were preparing to vote when the director of the administrative service informed us that there had been a cyber attack on the information system,” he added.
According to the parliament’s announcement, the attack affected all network devices, including those used in electronic voting.
THE meeting was adjourned and will resume on November 8.
In Poland, Senate President Tomas Grodzky told reporters that there was a cyber attack lasting about an hour, which, however, did not prevent the senators from continuing the debate and voting.
“A Denial of Service (DDoS) attack has hit the servers of the Senate website. The attack came from multiple directions, including from inside the Russian Federation,” the official statement said.
According to Grotzky, the attack may be linked to a resolution adopted by the Senate on Wednesday calling for the designation of the Russian government as a “terrorist regime”.
