Just a few minutes after the confirmation of the results of this Sunday’s elections (30), world leaders congratulated Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT) on his victory in the election.
The first reaction came from the president of Colombia, Gustavo Petro, who even before the announcement of the TSE (Superior Electoral Court) wrote “Viva Lula” on his Twitter account. Petro was, until this Sunday, the last left-wing leader to be elected in Latin America and, in recent days, he has openly declared his support for the PT.
Chilean President Gabriel Boric and Argentina Vice President Cristina Kirchner also spoke. In Europe, the first statements came from the Prime Minister of Portugal, António Costa, and the President of France, Emmanuel Macron.
Congratulations, dear Lula, for your election that opens a new page in the history of Brazil. Together, we will join forces to face the many common challenges and renew the bond of friendship between our two countries.
I have already had the opportunity to warmly congratulate Lula on his election as President of the Republic of Brazil. I look forward to our work together in the coming years with great enthusiasm, in favor of Portugal and Brazil, but also around the great global causes.
Congratulations, Lulu! His victory opens a new era for the history of Latin America. A time of hope and future that begins today. Here you have a partner to work with and dream big about the good life of our people.
Today more than ever, love and much happiness. Thank you people of Brazil. Thank you, comrade Lula, for returning joy and hope to our South America
We celebrate the victory of the Brazilian people, who elected Lula as their new president. Long live the peoples determined to be free, sovereign and independent! Today in Brazil democracy has triumphed
Brazilian citizens went to the polls to elect their new president in a peaceful and well-organized election. Congratulations on your election, Lula! I look forward to working together and promoting EU-Brazil relations with your government and with the new Congress and State authorities.
