Members of the Israeli armed forces killed a Palestinian during a raid today in the occupied West Bank, a hospital said.
The Palestinian Islamic Jihad group issued a statement saying it mourned the man’s death, without specifying whether it was a member.
According to the Israeli border guard, members of the special forces opened fire on Palestinians who threw improvised explosive devices at them from a short distance after capturing a wanted fighter in Nablus, in the West Bank, and confiscating an assault rifle at his home.
A statement from the body said that one of the Palestinians who fired improvised explosive devices was killed by Israeli military fire.
Hospital in the occupied areas confirmed that the man succumbed to his injuries.
Israel occupied the West Bank in the 1967 war.
The Palestinians envision the establishment of an independent state in the West Bank and Gaza Strip, with East Jerusalem as its capital. But Israeli-Palestinian peace talks collapsed in 2014; there seems to be no prospect of resuming them.
