Jeff Bezos is in new legal trouble as his former housekeeper sued him for racial discrimination and poor working conditions.
Mercedes Wenda worked at the residence of the billionaire Amazon CEO for almost three years, starting in 2019, “for 14 hours a day without a break” in “unsanitary conditions”, as she describes it.
According to the lawsuit filed in King County Superior Court in Seattle, she and her co-workers worked in inhumane conditions without a break for lunch.
Also, for example, inside the main building of the mansion there was no toilet for the staff. Thus, they were forced to use an auxiliary toilet in the laundry room, next to the security office.
But to avoid being seen by the Bezos family and their guests, they would climb out of a window to get out, run along a path to the utility room to use the toilet – they were barred from the main areas of their home.

In fact, the plaintiff housekeeper is suing Bezos for racist behavior. As she says, the managers of the house “treated her and later other Spanish-speaking housekeepers differently than the white ones”, saying that they mocked her, disrespected her and humiliated her.
Wenda claims she was also forced to supervise undocumented workers, which made her feel uncomfortable and prompted her to complain to management.
When she did this, along with other complaints about working conditions, the housekeeper claims she was fired.
The lawsuit is against the billionaire and two companies he uses to manage his personal investments and real estate, Zefram LLC and Northwestern LLC.
For his part, Jeff Bezos’ lawyer, Harry Connell, said that the housekeeper’s accusations are baseless and that “there were enough toilets and rooms for her and the rest of the staff to take a break.
According to him, Wenda was fired because she did not do her job well and filed the lawsuit against Bezos because she demanded more than 9 million dollars and her former employer refused to give it to her.
