“When all the murderers and executioners are convicted, when Russia compensates for all the damage caused by Russian aggression, it will be a very solid foundation for lasting peace.”
The decision of the Dutch court on the downing of flight MH17 was welcomed by the president of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky, pointing Moscow’s “finger” in the case.
A Dutch court has convicted three men, two former Russian intelligence agents and a Ukrainian separatist leader, of downing of flight MH17 of Malaysia Airlines over Ukraine in 2014.
Moscow denounced the Dutch court’s decision as “political”.
Volodymyr Zelensky’s announcement
“A very important decision was made today in the Netherlands. There is the first sentence for the killers who destroyed the Malaysian Boeing in the sky over Donbass in 2014. Russia lied a lot about this disaster, but again the main facts were proved.
“Now the perpetrators have been convicted and the basis is provided for the conviction of the higher level culprits as well. Those who bear full personal responsibility for the crime of aggression against Ukraine – the original crime that led to everything else committed by racists since 2014. This is something without which it is impossible to protect the world from the recurrence of such wars such as Russian aggression against our state. When all the murderers and executioners are convicted, when Russia makes reparations for all the damages caused by Russian aggression, it will be a very solid foundation for lasting peace.
»We have all the possibilities to ensure it. Every Russian war crime, every terrorist attack by them will get its legal response. Today’s decision in The Hague proves it.
Eternal memory to all those whose lives were taken by Russian aggression. Kudos to all who win for Ukraine!”
