The New Zealand Defense Minister also visited Poland, where he met with his Polish counterpart, Mariusz Blazak, to whom he expressed his condolences for the two deaths caused by the fall of a missile last week in a Polish village.
The Kyiv New Zealand’s Defense Minister visited Pini Henare in order to reaffirm his country’s support for Ukraine’s resistance to the Russian invasion.
“We discussed New Zealand’s recent extension of the infantry training mission in Britain of Ukrainian troops until July 2023,” Henare said in a statement after meeting with his Ukrainian counterpart Oleksiy Reznikov.
“The visit to Kyiv sends a strong message that (…) our support for Ukraine’s defense efforts against Russia’s illegal invasion is unwavering,” he underlined.
Henare visited the pro-Ukraine Memorial Wall to pay his respects to the victims of the war.
New Zealand announced last week that it would send an extra 66 military personnel to Britain to help train Ukrainian soldiers.
Wellington, following Western countries, has imposed sanctions against more than 1,200 figures and entities in Russia, while providing around 37 million euros in aid to Ukraine.
