Borel said that the document he presented to the two sides was accepted by the president of Serbia, while the prime minister of Kosovo rejected it.

THE Serbia and Kosovo failed to reach an agreement on number plates in negotiations held today in Brussels under the auspices of the European Union.

The High Representative of the Union Joseph Borel announced that Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic and Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti had failed to agree on the issue of signs, leaving clues as to Pristina’s stance. Borel said that the document he presented to the two sides was accepted by the president of Serbia, while the prime minister of Kosovo rejected it. Aleksandar Vucic also spoke of Albin Kurti’s fault in the failure of the talks in his statement to Serbian journalists. The president of Serbia announced that he will inform the Serbian people about the talks in Brussels tonight, via public television.

THE Albin Kurti told reporters that he refused to sign the text of the placards presented by Josep Borel because it did not include his proposal for Serbia to commit to seeking a final agreement to normalize relations with Kosovo.

It is noted that from tomorrow morning the police in Kosovo will start imposing a fine of 150 euros on the owners of the vehicles that did not replace the Serbian license plates with plates issued by the Kosovo authorities. It is about 6,000 vehicles, which circulate with Serbian number plates exclusively in northern Kosovo where the Serbian population is a majority.
