The woman climbed the steps of the famous pyramid of El Castillo (Temple of Kukulcan), disregarding the relative ban and started dancing and posing for pictures
A tourist in Mexico was nearly lynched by a mob who had the bright idea to go up and dance in a sacred and forbidden Mayan temple.
The incident occurred at the Chichen Itza archaeological site in Yucatan, Mexico. The woman climbed the steps of the famous pyramid of El Castillo (Temple of Kukulcan), disregarding the relative prohibition, and began to dance and pose for photographs.
The crowd was enraged at the woman’s disrespect for both the monument and the sanctity of the site for Mexicans. In fact, they started calling the police to arrest her while – when the woman came down from the pyramid – some went so far as to attack her, throwing water bottles at her and pulling her hair.
