The Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni gave an interview to the newspaper “Corriere della Sera”, referring to the main issues of Italian and international current affairs.

Our government consists of a modern and conservative right wing. The unreal and destructive narrative of the left during the pre-election campaign was also refuted by the above. Look around you: the spread is at its lowest level in recent months, while abroad they are showing a lot of interest in Italy,” said Meloni.

According to the Italian Prime Minister “Italy’s relations with Europe are good” and “there were no problems with France». “A few days ago I exchanged messages with Emmanuel Macron,” he adds.

Georgia Meloni emphasized that “despite some statements by some government decision-makers in France, regarding immigrants – which most could not understand – bilateral relations continue”.

As far as natural gas is concernedbelieves that “putting a brake on speculation, which absorbs billions upon billions, is a priority that Europe cannot ignore”.

Referring to the NGOs operating in the Mediterranean, the head of the government of Rome restates her point of view: “as Frontex says, some NGOs are an element of driving illegal migration flows, with consequences for both arrivals and people who lose their life at sea”.

Asked if she intends to withdraw the lawsuit against the writer and journalist Roberto Saviano, Meloni replied that “she is not going to do it, because during the failed attempt to hold her responsible for the death of a child who died at sea, in a television in his interview he called her a “bastard”.

“Afterwards – he adds – when he was asked if this word is far from the right to express criticism, he repeated it”. “I believe that justice will be conducted impartially, based on the separation of powers that exists in Italy,” he added.

Referring to Ukrainian, the Italian Prime Minister stated that “Putin does not appear to be in a great mood to negotiate” and that “it is worth it to continue to support Ukrainebecause the possibility of a negotiating table can only depend on the balance of power”.

The head of the new Italian government “does not consider that its parliamentary majority should be expanded to new forces, because it is strong” but, at the same time, she does not rule out dialogue with opposition parties.

Asked by Corriere about her intentions on individual and social rights, the president of the Brothers of Italy replied: “no one should be afraid for their personal choices and their freedom. We don’t want to compress permissions, but add some more. I do not want to abolish or change the law 194 on abortion, but to offer additional help to women who are considering resorting to termination of pregnancy due to financial difficulties.”

With reference to her decision to take her six-year-old daughter Ginevra to the G20 in Indonesia, she explained that she “defends her choice and will do it again” because she “believes in the educational freedom of every parent and means to exercise hers.”

Speaking finally, about the “belligerents” with a series of Italian journalists who accuse her of not accepting enough questions, the Italian Prime Minister underlined:

“I’m a person who answers the questions and I don’t think I’m a nervous guy. On the contrary, I can see on the part of some journalists a nervousness towards me, which I had not noticed in the past. In the last four weeks I gave five press conferences. In the last one, before I said that I had another obligation, I had answered nine questions. I invite you to check how many questions my predecessors answered when they presented Italy’s state budget.”
