The governor did not say what may have caused the fire, but clarified that there was no information about any casualties
A fire broke out at an oil storage facility in Russia’s Bryansk region, a city 150 km from the border with Ukraine, according to the local governor.
“Oil product storage facilities are on fire in the Surajsky district,” Alexander Bogomaz said on social media. “Fire and rescue crews are at the scene.”
The governor did not say what may have caused the fire, but clarified that there was no information about any casualties.
According to Bogomaz, the fire is affecting an area of 1,800 square meters and at least 80 people have been mobilized to bring it under control.
State news agency Tass later reported, citing rescue services, that the fire had spread to a zone of 4,000 square meters.
In October, an oil storage facility near Belgorod, also on the border with Ukraine, was bombed by Ukrainian forces as well as a thermal power plant in the same area, the latter of which caused major power outages.
