Ernesto Araújo, former Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Bolsonaro government, defended his management as head of the portfolio during an interview on the BBC’s HardTalk program.
Presenter Stephen Sackur questioned Araújo about controversies during his administration, such as a text in which he called the coronavirus a “comunavirus” and accusations that it damaged Brazil’s relations with China at a time when the country needed Chinese inputs to manufacture vaccines .
In this video, which brings together the main excerpts from the interview, the former minister says that the pandemic was used as a weapon to undermine the government of Jair Bolsonaro, which would fight against a “kleptocracy”.
Furthermore, he defends views on what he sees as a communist threat amidst the pandemic that would include entities such as the World Health Organization (WHO).
