Italy – Qatargate: The decision to extradite Panzeri’s daughter to Belgium has been postponed

New hearing on January 3 to determine whether Belgian prisons “respect the principles of the European Convention on Human Rights”

The decision of the Italian judiciary on the extradition to Belgium of the daughter of the former MEP and current accused of corruption, Antonio Panzeri, Silvia, was postponed until January 3rd.

A judge in the city of Brescia, who was due today to rule on the extradition request submitted by the Belgian authorities, decided to set a new hearing on January 3 to determine in the meantime whether the principles of the European Convention on Human Rights.

Besides, according to a statement by the lawyers of Panzeri’s daughter and husband, they are going to appeal to the Italian Supreme Court against yesterday’s decision to extradite Maria Dolores Colleoni, Panzeri’s wife.

After Italian authorities raided Panzeri’s home outside Bergamo in northern Italy, 17,000 euros were found.

Panzeri’s wife, Maria Dolores Coleoni, is under house arrest and isolation in this single-family house (center photo). Their daughter is also under house arrest, in another apartment.

In September 2019, Pancheri founded the human rights NGO in Brussels, Fight Impunity, and has been its president ever since. Along with him, accused for Qatargate is his assistant Francesco Giorgi and his partner, Eva Kaili.
