The spread of the Omicron variant continues to cause concern in Italy as well: according to the latest data from the poll company Demoskopika, eight million Italians have decided to cancel their Christmas holidays due to the increase in cases.
90% of those who decided to “escape” from their place of residence, even for a single day, will remain within the national borders.
At the same time, the region of Rome confirmed that it is preparing to adopt a measure that will again make the use of the protective mask in open spaces mandatory. The measure is expected to take effect on Thursday, while a similar decision can be taken within the week by the Draghi government, with force throughout the country.
In the last twenty-four hours in Italy, 16,213 cases of coronavirus and 137 deaths were recorded. In total, 337,222 diagnostic tests were performed, 4.8% of which were positive.
Since the beginning of the pandemic in the country the infections are 5,405,368 and 135,778 people have lost their lives.
