Tehran insists on London’s ‘catastrophic role’ in recent anti-government protests

The British Foreign Office has announced it is investigating further information from Iranian authorities about reports of the arrest of British-Iranian nationals with dual citizenship.

The arrests citizens related to United Kingdom showed London’s “pernicious role” in recent protests in the country, its Foreign Office announced today Iran.

Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Nasser Kanani, asked by a reporter to comment on Tehran’s announcement yesterday of the arrest of seven people linked to Britain, replied: “Some countries, especially the one you mention, have had an unconstructive role regarding the recent developments in Iran. Their role was overall destructive in inciting the protests.”

Iran’s Revolutionary Guards announced yesterday that seven people had been arrested, including some with dual citizenship. The arrests were made in connection with the anti-government protests that rocked the country.

The British Foreign Office has announced that it is looking for more information from Iranian authorities about reports that British-Iranian nationals with dual citizenship have also been arrested.
