Russian MP and philanthropist Pavel Advov, who had criticized Vladimir Putin’s war in Ukraine, was found dead on Christmas Day after mysteriously falling from the third floor of a hotel in the Indian city of Rayagada.

According to the Russian news agency TASS, multi-millionaire Antonov was on holiday at Hotel Sai International, where he would have celebrated his 66th birthday in a few days.

Two days earlier, another politician and his friend who were spending their holidays together in the same hotel, had died of a “heart attack”, according to the official announcement.

The Russian politician and Putin critic was found dead on December 25 after falling from a third-floor hotel window, police said. “With the permission of the family, his body was cremated by the authorities” the very next day, yesterday, Monday.

According to the local police official, Vivekananda Sharma, an investigation is being carried out to determine whether Pavel Advov “killed himself or accidentally fell from the roof”.

Last June, Antonov criticized the war and airstrikes in Kyiv as Russian “terrorists” hit Ukrainian civilians.

Commenting on a Russian missile strike, he said: “A girl was pulled out from under the rubble, the girl’s father is dead. The mother is trapped under a slab and they are trying to extricate her with a crane. To tell the truth, this can only be described as horror.”
