The first Bulgarian military research ship “Sv. Sv. “Kiril i Metodii” sailed from Varna bound for Antarctica today at 2 pm, the Bulgarian news agency VTA reports.

Dozens of close friends and relatives and many residents of Varna gathered to see off the crew as the ship departed.
On deck, priests from the Diocese of Varna and Veliko Preslav blessed the ship, crew and scientists for the successful return from their mission. The ceremony was attended by the Commander of the Bulgarian Navy, Vice Admiral Kirill Mihailov and the Governor of Varna, Mario Smurkov.
