The level of fullness of the storage tanks reached from 82.9% to 83.1%, while the corresponding percentages as a whole in Europe fluctuated at the same levels.
Germany’s natural gas storage tanks are filling up again, thanks to unseasonably high temperatures. Therefore, the possibility of a gas shortage this winter is becoming more and more remote.
According to data from the association Gas Infrastructure Europe published by the magazine Der Spiegel, every day from Wednesday to Sunday of the previous week more gas was stored than expended. The level of fullness of the storage tanks reached from 82.9% to 83.1%, while the corresponding percentages as a whole in Europe fluctuated at the same levels.
In addition, the liquefied natural gas (LNG) terminal being prepared in Wilhelmschein is expected to be put into operation in the near future.
The head of the Federal Grid Agency, Klaus Müller, today expressed his satisfaction with the development: “Mild weather, limited consumption, increased wind energy, less energy production from natural gas and fewer exports to France helped us. Full gas storage means security of supply for 2023, but also for winter 2023-24,” Mr Mueller tweeted.
Indicatively, the temperature in the last few days in Berlin has fluctuated between 3 and 8 degrees Celsius, while at the weekend it is estimated that it will approach 15 degrees.
