Anita Pointera member, along with her sisters, of the Grammy Award-winning band Pointer Sisterspassed away at the age of 74.

The group consisted of three sisters, Rath, Anita and Bonnie, and became world famous mainly for the song “I’m So Excited”, as well as other hits in the 80s such as Jump (For My Love) and Fire.

Poyder, who had been suffering from cancer, was with her family at her Beverly Hills home when she died on Saturday, a family spokesman said.

The family said in a statement: “While we are deeply saddened by the loss of Anita, we are comforted that she is now with her daughter Jada and her sisters June and Bonnie. She was the one who kept us all close and together for so long. Her love for our family will continue to live on in each of us.”

It is noted that Anita was the second oldest of the four sisters in the family. The Pointer Sisters at first consisted of just June and Bonnie. Later, Anita joined, and a few years later the fourth sister of the family, Ruth, who is the only one of the sisters still living, joined.
