With a flashback to the past, Archbishop of America Elpidophoros bids farewell to the former Pope Benedict XVI who passed away the day before yesterday at the age of 95 and whose body will be placed in a popular pilgrimage to the Vatican from today Monday.

The Archbishop of America recalls the visit of the former Pontiff in 2006 to the Ecumenical Patriarchate, which he characterizes as “a milestone in our ecumenical journey towards unity”. Archbishop Elpidophoros prays for the repose of Benedict XVI, “a distinguished theologian, dedicated to dialogue with the Orthodox Church”.

In fact, he accompanies his relevant post on social media with a photo from the 2006 visit, when he himself ministered at the Patriarchal Court, in Fanari.
