London, Thanasis Gavos
The Prime Minister of the United Kingdom Boris Johnson announced that no further restrictive measures will be imposed against the Omicron variant before Christmas.
He warned, however, that the situation remained delicate and “extremely difficult” and that additional measures could not be ruled out immediately after Christmas.
In a video posted on Downing Street’s social media late Tuesday afternoon, Mr Johnson said: vaccines and booster doses – we do not think there is enough evidence today to justify tougher measures before Christmas. “
He added that the government continues to monitor the situation very closely and if it worsens, then it is ready to take the necessary action.
Finally, he called on the citizens to be careful without canceling their Christmas plans and asked them to take a test before meeting with vulnerable relatives and friends.
