Analena Burbock described the new EU sanctions packages against Russia as crucial, and pointed out that in order to achieve the objective of the sanctions, there should be no “loopholes”
The Republic of Cyprus is ready to provide information on Russian oligarchs, the country’s foreign minister pointed out Ioannis Kasoulidis in the joint interview with his German counterpart Analena Burbock.
Ms Burbock described the new EU sanctions packages against Russia as crucial, and pointed out that in order to achieve the objective of the sanctions, not there must be “loopholes” or possibilities to bypass them. Together we should be very careful to prevent Russian oligarchs from gaining access to the European financial system, he said.

In response, Mr. Kasoulidis emphasized that Nicosia is open to cooperation with Berlin, “on any information that exists about people who violate the sanctions or use Cyprus to violate them.” We are an open book, he told his counterpart.
Cyprus, as underlined by the Cypriot Foreign Minister, stands by Ukraine, but also of any other country whose sovereignty and territorial integrity are under attack.
It is noted that Analena Burbock reiterated Germany’s categorical support for a bizonal, bicommunal federation solution based on the resolutions of the United Nations Security Council.
