An investigation is being conducted by Spain’s Labor Inspectorate following reports by candidates of unacceptable conditions under which they were interviewed for employment at Kuwait Airways, according to elDiario.es
During the selection process, candidates had to unbutton their shirts, pull up their sweaters and skirts, and remain in their underwear so that the recruiter could “check” their bodies to see if they were suitable for the job. position.
The shocking incident, according to “elDiario.es”, happened last November in a hotel in Spain, where a private company, considered “the world’s largest cabin crew recruitment agency”, was conducting the interviews of candidates on behalf of the airline ” Kuwait Airways”.
As one of the candidates reported to “El Diario”, “the girl who was the first interviewee came out with tears in her eyes saying characteristically that she was forced to take off almost all her clothes, except her underwear. “It was her first job interview. The others also came out and said the same thing. I couldn’t believe it, I was shocked. But they didn’t exaggerate,” he says on condition of anonymity.
According to reports in elDiario.es, many would-be flight attendants were “cut” because they had scars, birthmarks, tattoos, or simply did not like their skin or smile, while from the beginning the tests started with insulting comments “We don’t like your smile”, “you have the body of a Russian mountain”.
The Labor Inspectorate, which was informed of the incident, decided to conduct an investigation against the company in question, although no one involved has filed a complaint. The aim is to determine whether the events can be considered a crime and to refer the case to the Prosecutor’s Office.
After the complaints came to light, the company issued an official response, in which it states the following:
“Kuwait Airways, for the past five years, has been using the same cabin crew recruitment service that 90% of the region’s airlines have used. As an airline of high reliability, it has employed people from all over the world in the 68 years since its establishment.” The airline continues, saying it will investigate the incident and that “never has such a serious allegation been made against it… We wish to emphasize that Kuwait Airways cannot condone any process that humiliates or degrades any person.”
