Princess Anne visits Cyprus to inspect the British delegation to UNFICYP
The President of the Republic of Cyprus N. Anastasiadis had a meeting with Princess Anna of the United Kingdom, who is visiting Cyprus to inspect the British contingent in the United Nations Peacekeeping Force in Cyprus (UNFICYP).
Princess Anna was welcomed at the Presidential Palace, in Nicosia, by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Cyprus, Ioannis Kasoulidis, followed by a meeting with President Anastasiades, in his office.
During the meeting, President Anastasiades provided an update on the current phase of the Cyprus issue and the ongoing Turkish challenges, while issues related to Climate Change and its tragic effects were discussed, as well as the energy crisis created as a result of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine .
In the context of the meeting, President Anastasiades presented the Princess of Great Britain with a silver copy of a 4th century BC goblet, as well as an album of photographs of Cypriot veterans of the Second World War, while Princess Anne presented the President a portrait of her.
