The outer wall from the block of flats has collapsed and from the inside you can see a yellow kitchen in one of the apartments which has surprisingly remained intact
A shocking image of the apartment building that was hit by a Russian missile last Saturday in the Dnipro region of Ukraine is making the rounds on social media, causing shock and sadness.
The outer wall of the apartment building has collapsed and a yellow kitchen in one of the apartments can be seen from the inside which has surprisingly remained intact.
The image is striking and testifies to the stark contrast between everyday life and the horrors of war where a missile can violently interrupt the warmth of the home.
The photo also shows a bowl of apples on the table, the dishes are next to the sink waiting to be washed while the oven mitts are still hanging on hooks.
“Here people cooked, had conversations in the kitchen, celebrated the holidays, laughed, argued,” Kyiv MP Zoya Yarosh wrote on Facebook. She even compared the destruction of the building with the fate of her country: “These are the wounds on the body of Ukraine. Wounds in our homes.”
Boxing coach Michael Korenovski, who was killed in the attack, lived with his family in one of the apartments of the apartment building, according to the BBC. On the contrary, his family was reportedly saved.
At least 40 people died in the attack in Dnipro, including three children. However, another 30 people remained missing as of Monday.
