“We will discuss how we can help Ukraine militarily and about a new disbursement from the European Instrument for Peace,” EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Josep Borrell told the Council in Brussels today. Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba will address the Council via video conference. As he mentioned, the EU foreign ministers will discuss the commitments undertaken by some member states, within the framework of the Rammstein group and the situation on the ground, as well as the provision of additional financial assistance to Ukraine.
Asked about the tanks that some European countries are reluctant to hand over to Ukraine, Z. Borel replied that this issue will be discussed, as member states have different views. He added, however, that in his personal opinion, these weapons should be provided to the Ukrainian army.
Also, in the Iran debate, EU foreign ministers are expected today to adopt new sanctions against 37 individuals and entities involved in the crackdown on protests.
In addition, the Council will exchange views on the Sahel and the coastal countries of West Africa, on Armenia, Montenegro, Afghanistan and Venezuela.
During a working lunch, EU foreign ministers will have an informal exchange of views with the Palestinian prime minister.
