The Minister of Health spoke of four dead and 13 injured, of which three are in a critical condition
Four Palestinians were killed and at least 13 wounded today during an Israeli army raid in Jenin, in the northern part of the occupied West Bank, the Palestinian health minister said.
“The situation in the (Palestinian refugee) camp of Jenin is critical,” Health Minister Mai al-Kaila said in a statement, noting that the Israeli army fired tear gas into the hospital’s pediatric clinic.
The minister spoke of four dead and 13 injured, three of whom are in critical condition.
“Security forces are conducting an operation in the Jenin refugee camp. Details will be given later,” the army said on its Telegram account.
Today’s deaths bring to 24 the number of Palestinians, civilians or members of armed groups, who have been killed since the beginning of the year in violent incidents with Israeli forces or settlers.
2022 was the deadliest year for the West Bank since the end of the second Intifada (2000-2005), according to the UN. AFP counted more than 200 dead Palestinians.
After a series of anti-Israel attacks in March and April 2022, the Israeli army has increased its operations in the West Bank, mainly in Jenin and Nablus, strongholds of armed Palestinian organizations.
