Russia: allegations of insufficient gas exports to EU unfounded, according to Gazprom

by

Allegations against Russia and Gazprom that it supplies insufficient quantities of gas are unacceptable and unfounded, and European countries are creating problems for themselves, said Sergei Kuprianov, a spokesman for the Russian company. “All these accusations do not correspond to reality, they are simply fraud and lies,” Kuprianov told Russia-1.

According to a Gazprom spokesman, the Russian monopoly is ready to supply additional quantities of natural gas under existing long-term contracts, and as he pointed out, the price of gas in these contracts is significantly lower than the stock market spot prices. “All the problems in Western Europe are created by themselves and there is no need to blame Gazprom for this, it is better to look in the mirror,” Kuprianov reiterated, adding that “some Gazprom customers from France and Germany have already opted for annual contracts. The Russian representative also claimed that “Gazprom” continues to transport natural gas through Ukraine, despite the expiration of the contract for 2021.

Earlier, the Kremlin announced that Russian President Vladimir Putin had spoken by telephone with Serbian Prime Minister Aleksandar Vucic on the central issue of Russian gas exports, which are being discussed between the two countries’ services and companies. A. Vuτςiτς, in turn, had stated that he intends to request an increase in the quantities of gas supplied by “Gazprom” to Serbia.
