Grateful for the tanks sent by the West, he said in an interview he gave to the British television network Sky News Volodymyr Zelensky.

The Ukrainian president’s interview will be shown in full on Thursday night, however in the first clip released Mr. Zelensky reacts with surprise as he is informed by the journalist of Chancellor Soltz’s decision to send the Leopard.

Expressing his gratitude, he adds that “the number (of tanks) and the delivery time are critical.”

Mr Zelensky also says he is “not interested” in meeting Vladimir Putin for peace talks. He even characterizes the Russian president as a “nobody” who says one thing and does another and lives in an “information bubble” without really knowing what is happening on the battlefield.

He adds that Russia is not interested in negotiations and declares that he is certain that other countries are also in Putin’s sights.

Elsewhere in the interview he describes the early hours of the Russian invasion of his country and how he rarely sees his family to have a meal with them.

For his ten-year-old son, he says that he now thinks like an adult. “All the children in Ukraine are adults,” he adds, speaking of a tragedy.
