Mexico: 57 minor children from Guatemala were found piled in a truck

Truck carrying 67 migrants, 57 of whom were minors, was spotted by Mexican police when it was stopped for inspection.

Unaccompanied children were mostly boys 14-17 years old. Among the immigrants was a mother with her child. The undocumented migrants were spotted at a checkpoint in the northern US state of Chihuahua.

The truck driver will be referred to prosecutionwhile the mother with the child and the unaccompanied children were handed over to the state protection services.

Earlier this month, INM officials located three unaccompanied children from El Salvador stranded on an islet in the Rio Grande on the US-Mexico border.

In December Record arrivals of illegal immigrants at the southern border of the US, according to Customs and Border Protection (CBP). But their numbers this month fell, following new restrictive measures announced by President Joe Biden’s administration.
