Meloni’s message for Libya: “No to destabilizing influences”

From Tripoli, the Italian Prime Minister underlined that her country will do everything in its power to strengthen the joint action and intentions of the international community, with reference to Libya, “to avoid the risk that certain influences will act for the destabilization and not for the stabilization of this whole framework”

“On this important day, our foreign ministers signed agreement to strengthen cooperation with the Libyan authority, as far as the coast guard is concerned,” Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni said from Tripoli, where she made an official visit.

“The fight against irregular immigration, for us it remains a matter of central importance. Despite the efforts, the numbers of irregular migration from Libya to Italy remain high”, added the Italian Prime Minister. “We want to play an important role in helping African countries to strengthen their development: this is a cooperation that does not want to be beneficial only for one side, but wants to leave something substantial for our partners as well,” Meloni said.
