Ukraine: Three dead from a Russian strike in a city in eastern Ukraine

“The Russians fired into a residential area, damaging four-story buildings, a hotel, parking lots and vehicles,” Donetsk region governor Pavlo Kirilenko said on social media.

Three people were killed and at least fourteen were injured in a Russian strike in the eastern Ukrainian city of Konstantinovka, the governor of the region announced today.

“The Russians fired into a residential area, damaging four-story buildings, a hotel, parking lots and vehicles,” Donetsk region governor Pavlo Kirilenko said on social media.

“Three civilians were killed. At least two were wounded,” he added, before later revising the toll upwards to 14 wounded.

The governor said rescuers and police on the ground were “carefully documenting another crime by the Russian occupation forces” in Ukraine.

Images posted on Kirilenko’s Telegram account show apartment buildings with broken windows and debris strewn around a burnt-out car.

According to the Ukrainian Ministry of Defense, Russia carried out attacks on Konstantinovka, with multiple rocket launchers.

Almost a year after its invasion of Ukraine, Moscow is trying to take control of the entire Donetsk region, which it has already declared an integral part of Russia.

Kyiv announced this week that Russian troops had stepped up their attacks in the east, mainly in the towns of Volendar and Bakhmut.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said on Friday that the situation on the front line is extremely difficult, especially in the Donetsk region.
