Putin: Stop the bombing of the areas we conquered

by

“Of course, the main task is to eliminate the very possibility of bombing. But that is the job of the Defense Ministry,” Putin said, according to the Kremlin website.

President Vladimir Putin said today that Russia’s military must stop shelling Russian areas from Ukrainian territory, which he said has left many people homeless or without electricity.

Putin was speaking at a government meeting on the restoration of damaged homes and infrastructure in areas of southwestern Russia bordering Ukraine.

“Of course, the main task is to eliminate the very possibility of bombing. But that is the job of the Defense Ministry,” Putin said, according to the Kremlin website.

Ukraine has not claimed responsibility for strikes inside Russian territory but calls them “karma” for Moscow’s invasion, which has leveled Ukrainian cities and systematically targeted the country’s energy infrastructure, often leaving people without electricity and water inside in the dead of winter.

Putin cited the Russian regions of Belgorod, Bryansk and Kursk, as well as Crimea, which Russia wrested from Ukraine and annexed in 2014, as areas where homes have been damaged or destroyed.

The world faces “very acute” problems and needs reparations and compensation, he said.

“Many people found themselves in a difficult situation, they lost their homes, had to move in with relatives or in temporary places of residence, faced interruptions in the supply of water, heating and electricity,” he said.

His comments show Moscow’s desperation at the frequency of attacks in southern Russia, which have included strikes on sites such as power substations and weapons and fuel depots.
