Far-right opposition MPs greeted Vucic in the chamber with boos holding signs reading: “You betrayed Serbia” and “You sold out Kosovo”.
With the phrase “Capitulation is not a prospect!” the President of the Republic, Aleksandar Vucic, concluded his speech in the Parliament during the meeting on the developments in Kosovo issue.
Aleksandar Vucic informed the Chamber about the dialogue process with Pristina, which is being conducted under the auspices of the EU, while he also referred to the so-called Franco-German plan for the normalization of Serbia’s relations with Kosovo. The plan proposed by the EU and the US remains secret, but the president of Serbia confirmed, during his speech to the parliament, that 90% of the publications about its content are accurate. Mr. Vucits mentioned that the point of contention for the Serbian side is Article 4 regarding Kosovo’s accession to the UN. He reiterated that a Euro-American delegation, which presented him, on Friday, January 20, with the plan for Kosovo, warned him that, if he rejected it, “accession negotiations with the EU will be interrupted, investments will be stopped, those that have been made will be withdrawn and political measures will be taken to isolate Serbia.”
Today’s extraordinary session of the parliament for Kosovo takes place in an atmosphere of tension, as far-right opposition MPs greeted Vucic in the chamber with boos holding signs reading: “You betrayed Serbia” and “You sold out Kosovo”. The deputies of the coalition gave a warm welcome to the president of the Republic with a prolonged applause that lasted about two minutes. MPs from centre-left parties accused Vucic of negotiating a national issue in parliament’s absence and demanded to be officially informed of the content of the Kosovo proposal.
The conversation in the Serbian parliament on the issue of Kosovo will be completed in two days and no vote is expected to take place.
