Iran has begun enriching uranium by up to 60%, far exceeding the 3.67% limit set in the 2015 international agreement on the country’s nuclear energy program and approaching the 90% required to build a nuclear bomb.

French President Emmanuel Macron denounced Iran’s “flight forward” on the country’s nuclear energy program after a dinner he hosted for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Thursday night, warning Tehran that the the path he sets will not be without “consequences”.

“The president of the Republic reaffirmed the necessary rigor in the face of Iran’s flight forward, which if continued will have inevitable consequences, and the lack of transparency of this country towards the International Atomic Energy Agency”, according to a press release published in the early hours of the morning hours today from the French presidency.

Iran has begun enriching uranium by up to 60%, far exceeding the 3.67% limit set in the 2015 international agreement on the country’s nuclear energy program and approaching the 90% required to build a nuclear bomb.

Besides, Tehran threatens to take “retaliation” measures in case the European Union blacklists the Revolutionary Guards, as suggested by the European Parliament.

In addition, Tehran is also threatening to withdraw from the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT) and deny IAEA inspectors access to its nuclear facilities.

Messrs. Macron and Netanyahu expressed at the dinner “their great concern about Iran’s destabilizing activities in the entire region,” added the text released by the Elysee.

The Pentagon announced Wednesday the seizure of a large quantity of Iranian weapons intended for Yemen’s Houthi rebels by unnamed “Western allies” as part of a French special forces operation, according to a Wall Street Journal report.

“The president (Mr. Macron) recalled that Iranian support for the Russian attack against Ukraine exposes Iran to sanctions and increasing isolation,” Paris also underlined.

Kyiv and its Western allies accuse Russia of using Iranian-made kamikaze UAVs to launch attacks against Ukraine, causing extensive damage to political and energy infrastructure.

In response, Western countries have imposed sanctions on Iranian companies and Iranian generals.
