Two diplomats made it to the second round of the Cypriot elections and on the island of Aphrodite new data is being created ahead of the second round. Nikos Christodoulidis with a percentage of 32.04% (127,305 votes) and Andreas Mavroyiannis with a percentage of 29.60% (117,627 votes) cut the thread with a small difference first and this is something that must also be taken into account.

The Working People’s Reform Party, which is the evolution of the communist party in Cyprus, made a wise choice in the person of the independent Mr. Mavroyiannis. Outsider at first managed, however, to dethrone the only official candidate and party leader of the three, Averof Neofytou. With a percentage of 26.11% (103,755 votes) he failed to pass the second round, which will bring developments to the Democratic Alert.

Already last night he visited the outgoing president, Nikos Anastasiadis, in order to discuss the developments.

From today the first two, Mr. Christodoulidis and Mavroyiannis, will start contacts with the political groups that support them in order to find the alliances with which they will march next Sunday. The former foreign minister is estimated to have managed to win the cross of 1/3 of the DISY voters having at the same time the support of the intermediate space DIKO, EDEK, DIPA, Solidarity.

Certainly, however, the big winner of last night can be considered Andreas Mavroyiannis, who received a vote of confidence, apart from AKEL, from part of the Environmental Movement, but also from non-affiliated personalities of Cyprus.

“The night brings advice” he told reporters after the final results and everything shows that the week that started in Cyprus will be long and dense in political consultations, ferments and developments.

The positions that AKEL has always advocated in relation to the Cyprus issue will be the means to build new partnerships and everything shows that the Greek Cypriot lawyer Achilleas Dimitriadis and the head of the “New Wave” movement Konstantinos Christofidis are close for an appointment. Averof Neofytou declared after the results that put him in third place that he will be a candidate for the presidency of DISY. The Alarm is hard to avoid introversion.

For the first time since the establishment of the party, it fails to enter the second round of the Presidential Elections. Today everything will be discussed at the Politburo meeting.
