He won the second largest lottery jackpot in state history
A story from Northern Ontario tells us how a 5-year-old girl’s good Karma waited 13 years to be rewarded.
Juliette Lamour won the second largest lottery jackpot in state history, $48 million, on her first try.
The local news from her hometown revealed a touching story about her, that at the age of 5 she did a very big act of charity and apparently her generosity “took place”.
It was 2010 and Haiti had just been devastated by an earthquake. Organizations from all over the world rushed to help the country’s residents, stabilize and recover.
At the Marie Greyhounds hockey rink, a branch of the Canadian Red Cross had set up a table to help raise money for Haiti, and Juliette and her sister Sophie were determined to help in that effort.
That day they turned over their big pink piggy bank, which yielded $61.38, to help the earthquake victims.
Last week, Juliette was on her way to bring her grandfather ice cream.
“I got him on the phone asking what kind of ice cream he wanted and he said, ‘You’ve just turned 18, go buy a lotto ticket, try your luck.’ And so I did.”
“I got to the corner store and while I was in my car I realized I didn’t know how to buy it.”
“So I had to call my father.”
“I said, ‘Dad, grandpa wants me to buy a ticket. How I do it;’ And he said, ‘Just go in and get one.'”
And that’s how the young girl won the $48 million prize at the Ontario Lottery offices.
