Russia launched a mass attack with dozens of missiles and drones with explosives today against Ukrainian targets – Moldova summoned the Russian ambassador
Today, Russia launched a mass attack with dozens of missiles and drones with explosives against Ukrainian targets.
According to Ukraine’s air force, Russia launched “six Kalibr cruise missiles,” “up to 35 S-300 missiles against Zaporizhia and Kharkiv Oblasts,” and used “seven Shahed drones.”
“The enemy hit cities and vital infrastructure in Ukraine,” the Ukrainian air force said.
So far no casualties have been reported.
Russian missiles over Moldova and Romania
Two Russian missiles crossed the airspace of Romania and Moldova before entering Ukraine today, the head of the Ukrainian armed forces said.
Moldova said a Russian missile violated its airspace and summoned the Russian ambassador, while the Romanian Defense Ministry said the missile crossed Moldovan airspace but did not reach Romanian airspace.
Valery Zaluzny, chief of the general staff of Ukraine’s armed forces, said two Kaliber missiles, launched from the Black Sea, entered Moldovan airspace and then flew over Romanian airspace before entering Ukraine.
Reuters is currently unable to confirm the statement.
Moldova said a Russian missile violated its airspace this morning and summoned the Russian ambassador to protest.
“The Ministry of Defense, in cooperation with the responsible structures of the country, is closely monitoring the situation in the region and strongly condemns the violation of the airspace of Moldova,” the Ministry of Defense said.
The Foreign Ministry announced that it had urgently summoned the Russian ambassador and added: “We resolutely reject the latest unfriendly actions and statements against Moldova, which are completely unacceptable to our people. We call on the Russian Federation to stop military aggression against a neighboring country , leading to many human losses and property damage”.
A Russian missile fired from a warship near Crimea crossed Moldovan airspace before striking Ukraine, about 35 km northeast of the border with NATO member Romania, Romania’s defense ministry said.
“The surveillance system of the Romanian Air Force today detected an air target, most likely a cruise missile launched from a Russian ship in the Baltic Sea near the Crimean Peninsula,” the ministry said in a statement.
“The closest point at which the target’s trajectory reached Romanian airspace was recorded by the radar about 35 km northeast of the border,” he added.
Moreover, a representative of the Ukrainian Air Force, cited by Ukrainska Pravda, said that Ukraine had the ability to shoot down the missiles, but did not do so because it did not want to endanger civilians in foreign countries.
