Erdogan promised that the state would cover the rents of earthquake victims for a year, he said speaking from Antiyaman Province, one of the areas affected by the devastating earthquakes in southeastern Turkey.
At the same time, he stated that his government will rebuild the buildings that collapsed, within a year.
“We will offer 10,000 Turkish liras (494 euros) to our citizens. In addition, for citizens who do not live in tents and who do not want to live in tents, we will ensure that they can move into housing and cover their rent,” he said.
He also said that if the earthquake victims prefer to stay in hotels, “we can offer them this accommodation too.”
Also, Tayyip Ernogan admitted that the response of the Turkish authorities to the deadly earthquakes is not so immediate as much as the government wanted, adding that the death toll in the country from the earthquake has risen to 18,991. He also said that some people are looting shops and attacking businesses, noting that the state of emergency declared in the province will allow the state to impose the necessary punitive measures.
