Authorities arrested contractors and owners of construction companies in Istanbul, at airports and in the occupied territories of Cyprus
After arresting those responsible over the weekend, Turkish authorities made new arrests today in connection with the two major earthquakes that struck last week in the south Turkey and the west Syria.
Nazmi Tosun, construction supervisor and technical representative of the destroyed Emre Apartment complex in Gaziantep province, was arrested this morning in Istanbul.
Prosecutors in Malatya also issued today warrants arrest in charge 31 of persons in connection with collapsed buildings in the city.
The police arrested the possessed northern Cyprus Hassan Alpargun after some buildings built by his construction company collapsed over the weekend in the southern province of Adana, according to security forces.
The contractor Ibrahim Mustafa Uncuoglu was arrested in Constantinople after negligence was found following a technical examination of the ruins of an apartment building in Gaziantep province.
Istanbul police arrested another contractor, Mehmet Ertan Akai, after a building he had built collapsed during the earthquake in Gaziantep.
Prosecutors issued an arrest warrant for Akai on charges of negligent homicide and building code violations.
Mehmet Yasar Çoskun, the contractor of a large residential building that collapsed in Hatay province, was also arrested on Saturday.

Earlier, security forces had detained Tsokun at Istanbul airport as he prepared to leave Turkey and go to Montenegro.
ÄŒoskun claimed that he did not know why the building was destroyed and that his trip to Montenegro had nothing to do with the collapse of the building.
