The American president Joe Biden appeared today ready to hold talks with his Chinese counterpart Xi Jinping regarding the downing of the Chinese balloon that entered their airspace USA – an issue that caused further tension in Washington-Beijing relations.

“We do not want a new Cold War“, the US president emphasized, but made it clear that he does not intend to apologize for the downing of the Chinese balloon by an American fighter jet.

Beijing asserts that the balloon served “research purposes, mainly meteorological” and that entered “unintentionally» in American airspace.

According to Washington, it was a spy balloon with significant electronic equipment.

He added that the parameters for when to launch missiles to shoot down flying objects are being reviewed.
